A Million Ways to Master STEM

Redefining the Timeline of Success

Most people see a "timeline" as a fixed set of rules: high school at fourteen, college at eighteen, a career in your twenties. For the Abey brothers, those rules were merely suggestions.

The story of Abey Bros Tutoring began not in a classroom, but in a home fueled by a relentless "why." Niam Abeysiriwardena and Anish Abeysiriwardena didn't just attend school like many students do; they hacked the learning process. By the time most of their peers were navigating middle school, the brothers were already deep into high-level mathematics, neuroscience, and student leadership, proving that with the right mindset, the "standard" pace of education is often the slowest one. Our story isn’t one we expect or want others to think they should copy, we want to share why some approaches work well and how investing in learning can set your student up for a life of fulfilment.

Niam: Mastery through Persistence

Niam’s journey is defined by the intersection of the biological and the digital. As a scholar who tackled college-level Neuroscience and Computer Science before he could legally drive, he mastered the art of "Learning how to Learn." As an expert in tackling computational and spatial problems Niam excels in breaking down concepts into digestible, logical frameworks. The hallmark of his successes can be described as follows: "Niam doesn't outrun the problem; he outlasts it. His secret isn't just speed—it's the persistence to stay with a challenge until the solution has nowhere left to hide."

Anish: Visionary Insight, Universal Clarity

While Niam built the technical blueprints, Anish mastered the human element of high achievement. Anish understands that being a "future scientist" requires more than just high test scores; it requires leadership, effective communication, and the ability to navigate competitive academic environments. He serves as the bridge for students, turning intimidating goals into actionable milestones and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to find their voice in the STEM community. As a teacher and one responsible for dozens of students succeeding at national competitions Anish balances a strong STEM foundation with the nuances he has learned through his deep involvement in Model UN, skills in teaching internationally, language skills, and his practicality.

The Foundation: Dr. Angela Anandappa

Behind every great scientist is a mentor who has walked the path. Joining her sons, Dr. Angela Anandappa brings decades of PhD-level research, food safety expertise, and professional coaching to the table. While the brothers focus on the academic sprint, Dr. Anandappa focuses on the professional marathon—preparing students for the realities of the lab, the ethics of research, and the requirements of the global STEM workforce.

Why We Started Abey Bros

We didn't start this service to create "geniuses." We started it because we realized that individual potential is often capped by the speed of the classroom. We saw students that struggled with science, math, and scientific concepts weren’t necessarily struggling due to a specific root problem, sometimes they had missed a critical step in a previous year or two, or they were simply not in the right class with the instructor they needed for their age and stage. We saw students that struggled with putting it all together in a meaningful way and one the “aha!” moment was reached things made sense. We saw students with incredible minds being held back by "age-appropriate" curriculum. We saw future scientists, chemists, philosophers, doctors, and engineers losing interest because they weren't being challenged. We decided to offer the mentorship we utilized ourselves, a blend of sibling-led peer coaching and professional scientific guidance. The Bros each started officially tutoring at a young age (about 14) quickly learning more about how students think and in over 8 years of tutoring experience they two have completed over 5000 tutoring sessions with students in U.S. High School level classes, University Classes, Standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, MCAT, and LSAT and content for A-Level Classes that are offered in the United Kingdom.

At Abey Bros, we aren't just your tutors. We are your proof of concept. We are here to show you that the future of STEM doesn't start in four years—it starts the moment you decide to stop waiting.
